The feet and legs absorb tremendous loading forces every single day, sometimes reaching over 20 times the person’s body weight! This
can easily lead to both acute and chronic lower limb injuries.
Sustaining an injury when you’re always on the go doesn’t just mean pain and a potentially longstanding recovery – it means you miss
out on doing the things you enjoy like
being free to go for that walk and spend that time with your family or friends. That’s why we have a special interest in pain and injury
rehabilitation and prevention, so you can get back on your feet and back to doing the things you love as quickly as possible.
We deal with lower limb injuries that arise from work, from sport, from simple household chores or playing with your kids – you name
it! We don’t just treat your injuries, but identify the exact cause(s) that led to their development so we can help prevent this from
happening again. We understand that every person has different needs, different goals and different daily commitments, which is why each
treatment plan is tailored specifically to you and your goals. So let’s reach them together!
Your visit will start with finding out exactly what’s going on and getting to know your history
We then perform a comprehensive biomechanical examination which examines everything from the range of motion through your joints to your
muscle strength, foot alignment, footwear and more
This may be followed up by diagnostic tests such as X-rays or an ultrasound referral if indicated
Our gait analysis facilities can identify any imbalances or areas of high pressure when you walk and run. This gives us, and you, the
information you need to improve your rehabilitation and your performance
After a comprehensive evaluation, we will make recommendations for a treatment plan based on your medical history, your tolerance for
specific therapies and extent of the injury. To learn more about the treatments we offer, clickhere.
There are 5 primary techniques that we use to manage lower limb pain.
Trigger Point Dry Needling/ Acupunture
Dry needling is a procedure in which a very thin solid filament needle is inserted into the skin and muscle directly aimed at a myofascial
trigger point. A myofascial trigger point consists of multiple contraction knots, which are related to the production of pain. If you think
of knots in your muscles that when you push down on it elicits pain, and you think ‘that’s the spot’ then that’s it!
Dry needling is rarely painful, often you’ll feel a twinge or contraction from the muscle when the needle hits the trigger point.
While dry needling doesn’t often cause any bleeding, it occasionally can happen where bruising may occur. You can often feel a
difference immediately after the therapy and many of our patients very much enjoy dry needling! Come in and have a chat about whether
dry needling can help you too.
Stretching and Strengthening
Stretching and strengthening are both essential but serve different roles in injury prevention and recovery.
Strengthening targets weak muscles to restore balance, improve movement, and reduce strain that can lead to pain. Stretching relieves
tightness, enhances flexibility, and prevents stress on joints and muscles.
Together, they support healthy biomechanics. After assessing your needs, we provide tailored exercises to help you move better, feel
stronger, and stay injury-free.
Orthotic Therapy
Orthotics are custom-designed shoe inserts that correct irregular foot movement, reduce stress on the feet and legs, and help prevent
injury. Unlike basic arch supports, they improve how your foot functions, making walking, running, and standing more comfortable.
They’re tailored to address your specific pain or injury, offloading pressure from problem areas and promoting better alignment. Orthotics
can make a big difference in comfort, recovery, and getting you back to what you love.
Strapping, Taping & Bracing
Strapping, taping, and bracing are effective ways to support the foot and ankle during activity and recovery. Strapping uses sports tape to
stabilize muscles and joints, reduce pain, and prevent excess movement. Bracing offers firmer support, ideal for sprains, ligament injuries,
or chronic instability.
These methods relieve pressure, promote healing, and help prevent re-injury. Many athletes use them before training or games. Your
podiatrist can recommend the best option to keep you active and pain-free.
Shockwave and Laser Therapy
Shockwave therapy and low-level laser therapy (LLLT) are non-invasive treatments that help relieve pain and speed up healing for foot and
ankle issues.
Shockwave therapy uses sound waves to boost blood flow and repair tissue, making it ideal for chronic conditions like plantar fasciitis and
Achilles tendinopathy. LLLT uses light energy to reduce pain, inflammation, and swelling, promoting faster healing of soft tissue and nerve
injuries.
Both therapies offer lasting relief and improved mobility. Your podiatrist will recommend the best option to help you recover and stay
active.
ACC
If your injury is a result of an accident, you may be covered under ACC. Be sure to inform us at the time of your
appointment if this is the case and we will fill in the relevant paperwork to see if you are covered. We’re a registered ACC provider and
have an addition orthotic contract to make the prescription of orthotics simple and hassle-free, where it is necessary as part of your
treatment.

If you’re unsure whether you should wear walking or running shoes when exercising, this article is for you.
We explain the differences between walking and running shoes and how to determine which one is best for your feet. When it comes to buying a new pair of shoes, most people walk into a store expecting to just “find something comfy.” Then, suddenly, you’re asked: Are you looking for
walking shoes or running shoes? And that’s where the confusion begins. Because for many people, the answer isn’t that simple.
You could walk a lot – to work, around the block, chasing after the kids, or while catching up with friends. You could have also just joined
a gym or registered for the Couch to 5km. Or you could be a walker who just wants the option to go for a run if the mood strikes. So, which
shoe do you pick?
